Life’s Manual: God’s Word
Trying to put life together without God’s Word is like attempting to complete a jigsaw puzzle by only looking at the picture on the box, without having the pieces—or like reading instructions to build a bed but never actually assembling it. Both lead to frustration.
You can’t live life successfully without the manual, and the manual is useless if it’s never applied. Yet many people are trying to navigate life without ever looking into God’s Word. Others are listening to multiple voices and receiving advice from many vessels, which leads to confusion about what God is actually saying.
Jesus said, “My sheep know My voice.” (John 10:27)
But recognizing His voice requires familiarity.
Ezra: A Pattern for Hearing God Clearly
In Ezra 7:8–14, we see that God’s hand was upon Ezra. Why? Because Ezra had determined in his heart to study the Law of the Lord, obey it, and teach it. Because of this commitment, Ezra was granted everything he needed to repair and restore the city—what had fallen into ruin due to Israel’s disobedience and captivity.
The significance is powerful: when we align ourselves with what God has already said, He entrusts us with the resources needed to rebuild what was broken.
Victory Comes Through Application
God’s Word is what He has already spoken, and victory in life comes when we take hold of it and begin to apply it. This is how we gain clarity for what God is speaking now. When people struggle to hear God’s voice, it is often because they have not become acquainted with what He has already said.
We must learn to filter all voices through Scripture.
Nehemiah 8:18 reinforces this truth:
“Ezra read out of the book of the law of God every day, from the first day to the last.” (CSB)
Every day.
Why Daily Reading Matters?
Hearing God’s voice must be important enough to us that we commit to reading His Word daily—not occasionally, not only in moments of crisis. God’s Word is the manual for life, but it only works when we open it and apply it. It is through these applications that God directs us!
